:Diwali – That time of the year

Hello!

If you are an Indian then you exactly know what I’m talking about. It’s that time of the year again people, when there is a slight nip in the air, the onset of autumn and the festivities are in full swing. For as long as I can remember, Diwali has been my favourite festival out of all the countless festivals Indians celebrate. According to Hindu mythology Diwali is celebrated because lord Rama and his brother lord Laxman along with goddess Sita (Rama’s wife) returned home after a 14 year exile and  after  winning a rather trecherous battle against the most evil demon ‘Raavan’. It is celebrated by lighting candles, diyas and fairy lights. The entire city lights up to celebrate the auspicious day.

For me Diwali time means lots of get togethers, dressing up, eating a gallon of sweets, drinking lots of wine 😉 , a whole lot of laughter and basically just spending time with family and friends and having a gala time.

Here are a few pictures of me all dressed up for a Diwali party;
