I kinda sorta went back to school this week. When I pieced this outfit together and stood in front of my mirror I literally felt 15 again somehow. ( I don’t know if that’s really a good thing though :p ). I definitely wouldn’t wanna go back to school. I feel I was so dumb and naive back in the day but then who isn’t at that age, but nevertheless It was a lot fun to dress like it’s school days again. 🙂
I wore my Zara royal blue romper dress. It’s made out of a thick T-shirty – jersey fabric and It’s so comfortable and light. It’s brilliant for summer time. It reminds me of school uniform somehow. You know like how school tunics used to be like shorts from underneath. I always like to layer my outfits- it’s kinda my thing, so I decided to wear a casual Forever 21 denim shirt on top. I felt it made the whole outfit look a lot more effortless and school-ish.
How could have I not worn my Converse if I was taking myself back to school. I was one of those kids who used to wear converse to school all the time. My love for All Stars is eternal. ❤
To finish off the look, I decided to carry my cute little peach knapsack. Isn’t it absolutely adorable? Ever since I have entered the world of grown ups I have been carrying totes/ satchels/ clutches & purses and feelin’ all grown up and fancy. I completely forgot how fantastic do knapsacks look. They really have come back in vogue with a bang. I’m loving this trend right now.
So I hope you guys like my cute little back to school outfit as much as I did. Here are a few pictures of me in it :-
Thank you so much lovely people for reading 🙂 I hope this gave y’all some inspiration to try some back to school outfits yourself.
Let’s talk about me feeling nice and bright these days. I have been making a conscious effort these past few weeks to break my habit of wearing clothes only from the deeper-darker-duller colour palette such as; black/navy/grey/beige etc. A few years ago I worked at MAC as a make up artist. While I was working there I didn’t just fall in love with everything make up, fashion and beauty but also fell head over heels in love with the colour black. Wearing only black clothes was a part of my everyday life for two years. Black will always be my one true love in the varied world of colours because no matter what it always makes me look good and feel confident. Anyway, enough babble on BLACK!
Let’s come back to talking about brighter- happier colours. (I digress too much :p)
I recently picked up this gorgeous printed top/ kurti from this label called ‘NO FUSS BY SANDHYA RAMAN’ . I love love love the various colours on this top and also the cloth it’s made out of, which is cotton crape. Trust me guys, it’s the most perfect cloth/material for Delhi summers. It’s super flow-y, soft, crease resistant, comfortable and flattering. I really like the designer’s easy- semi ethnic sense of style and it really showed through in her pieces. The best thing I found about her clothes are her cuts. She does the most flattering cuts for Indian female body type. I paired my kurti with comfy black cotton palazzo pants and didn’t shy away from adorning it with colourful accessories. YAYYYYY for wearing so much colour. 😛
I really like the way this look came out. It’s really easy & comfortable. It’s basically really me. I hope you guys like it as much. 🙂
What is it about basics? Why do they always look so bloody good?
One can never ever go wrong with simple basics, such as; skinny blue denims, black high heels, a black ganji and a grey shrug. Throw it all together in a jiffy and voila! you have yourselves a sure shot good looking outfit. The day I wore this outfit I got ready in a real hurry. To brighten up my look I threw on some bubble gum pink lipstick, wore my hair down( pretty much how I wear them all the time :p) and stepped out of my door. The best way to describe a basic outfit in three simple words is, it always looks CRISP, SIMPLE & CLEAN.
Spring’s here! spring’s here! spring’s here! YAY YAY YAY !!!
Spring for me somehow is the season of love. I feel like there’s is music in the air, everything seems to be happy and nice. Flowers are blooming, sun is shining, skin is glowing etc etc. One of the reasons why I love spring so much might also be because march other than being the month of spring also happens to be my birthday month. Whoop whoop!!! hehe… So basically all in all I’m in my highest spirits. 🙂
So here are a few pictures of me welcoming spring fashion. This is my go to look during spring/summer. Easy breezy cotton kurti’s/ tops with denim skirts/shorts.
I hope you all make the most of this spring season. Much love ❤
Being a make up artist by profession I often get the opportunity to prep & dress brides for their special day. The other day this got me thinking about how blessed I am. I’m in a profession where I get to contribute a little something in someone’s big day. The look that I see on the bride’s face as I finish her make up and she puts on her jewellery and gets into her wedding day outfit and finally looks at herself in the mirror, that moment is the most gratifying moment in my line of work. The sheer glow that comes from the happiness on her face says it all!
I recently did make up for my client Shradha Jain for her wedding day, she truly made the prettiest bride. So I thought that why don’t l do a blog entry de-coding the look that I did on her. So here is a full list of the products I used to achieve this lovely feline look for Shradha;
GROUNDWORK paint pot – M.A.C (Eye base)
COCOA BEAR eyeshadow- Makeup Geek + CARBON eyeshadow – M.A.C (In the crease)
I thought I’d do an #ootd post as my last blog entry for 2014. We delhiites have been experiencing the coldest winter in 11 years and no one is complaining because it has been so lovely and blissful. As the temperature dropped rapidly in the city of Delhi, I realised that I didn’t own a decent pair of black boots. So I began my search for the most perfect-simple-comfortable-flat-black boots. I wanted a pair which would go with everything, were super comfortable to walk in and kept my toes all toasty. P.S – my sister got all all benevolent and cute on me and offered to pay for my boots, so I had to get the best of the bests. I mean when they come for free, they have to be freaking fabulous. hehe 😀
I found the most sexy pair in Zara and they weren’t even too expensive. Zara pricing sometimes can turn out to be like a christmas present. Like secret santa secretly priced the thing you wanted the most within your budget. I love how my boots have two textures, plain in the front and all glossy/ patent from the back. The cherry on the cake is the gold chain detailing. I completely love them and I’m sure I am going to be getting a lot of wear out of them this winter. I kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple, I wore an all black ensemble with a pop of green and carried my brand new black and gold sling purse. ( I totally bought the purse coz I wanted something to go with my boots- guilty ;P
Now talking about the year that has been 2014- I cannot be more glad that it comes to an end today. This year hasn’t exactly been a cake walk for me. Let’s just say it didn’t pan out the way I thought it would. The person I was when this year began, is if not entirely then mostly different from the person that I have become as the year comes to an end. On that note, though it has been a somewhat difficult year, it has been the learning curve of my life. I feel like this year I was under construction, mentally and physically.
As i’m really into making lists these days, so I thought I will round up a quick list of all the things that 2014 taught me :-
1. FAMILY WILL LOVE YOU AND COMFORT YOU EVEN IF YOU MAKE BAD DECISIONS. ( NOT LIKE I DIDN’T KNOW THIS EARLIER, BUT THIS YEAR REITERATED THIS FACT FOR ME)
2. IT’S IMPERATIVE FOR A HEALTHY LIFE TO STAY BUSY.
3. DELETE THE DRAMA FROM YOUR LIFE. IT’S NOT COOL.
4. A REAL RELATIONSHIP IS SUPPOSED TO BRING POSITIVITY, LOVE, COMFORT AND HAPPINESS TO YOUR LIFE AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
5. IF YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, SAYING THAT YOU WANNA DO IT IS NOT GONNA MAKE IT HAPPEN. BUCK UP, MOVE YOUR ASS AND DO IT.
6. IT’S NOT A CRIME TO BE CONFUSED ABOUT SOMETHING- A LOVE INTEREST, YOUR CAREER, YOUR CHOICES ETC. IT’S OKAY, THESE THINGS TAKE TIME TO WORK. IT’S NOT MAGIC PEOPLE. STOP PATRONISING YOURSELF FOR IT. RELAX !
7. FITNESS IS CRUCIAL. BEING A CERTAIN SIZE IS NOT WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT HERE. I LEARNED THAT FITNESS MEANS FEELING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY AND ALSO IT’S A LIFESTYLE ALTERATION AND NOT A 1-2 MONTH STINT.
8. IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT SOMETHING, CHOOSING THAT AS YOUR CAREER MIGHT BE THE SHITTIEST MOVE YOU WILL MAKE IN YOUR LIFE. DO WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT AND WHAT YOU ENJOY DOING. SUCCESS WILL FOLLOW.
9. HAVING FEWER FRIENDS IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN HAVING WRONGDOER FRIENDS. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
So seeing that I have acquired all this wisdom this year, I guess it wasn’t such a shitty year. I have come out a lot stronger, wiser, healthier and happier. So all in all cheerio 2014 and welcome 2015, you better be good to me.
WISHING ALL MY READERS A VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE, I HOPE 2015 BRINGS ALL OF YOU LOTS OF HAPPINESS 😀
Summer is on its way out and I couldn’t be happier. The slight nip in the air these days followed by the teeny-tiny winter season that barely lasts two months becomes quite valuable after the scorching heat that resides in Delhi for more than half a year.
The nippy weather in Delhi makes the perfect setting for an evening-out. I decided to head out in a floral, pastel maxi dress to a flea to bid adieu to summer. I have recently discovered my love maxis, which you can pick in cotton or flowe-y fabrics to make it fit for day or night. Lending you height, maxis can be quite flattering yet comfortable. Saying my goodbye to the heat in a easy-breazy maxi, I can’t wait to embrace Fall Fashion! Here’s looking forward to layering my outfits; pulling out my chunky knits; throwing on a warm fuzzy stole; bringing out my dark berry/wine lipsticks and wearing those knee high boots.
If you are an Indian then you exactly know what I’m talking about. It’s that time of the year again people, when there is a slight nip in the air, the onset of autumn and the festivities are in full swing. For as long as I can remember, Diwali has been my favourite festival out of all the countless festivals Indians celebrate. According to Hindu mythology Diwali is celebrated because lord Rama and his brother lord Laxman along with goddess Sita (Rama’s wife) returned home after a 14 year exile and after winning a rather trecherous battle against the most evil demon ‘Raavan’. It is celebrated by lighting candles, diyas and fairy lights. The entire city lights up to celebrate the auspicious day.
For me Diwali time means lots of get togethers, dressing up, eating a gallon of sweets, drinking lots of wine 😉 , a whole lot of laughter and basically just spending time with family and friends and having a gala time.
Here are a few pictures of me all dressed up for a Diwali party;
