Kalamkari <3

Hello!

India is popular for its crafts and craftsmanship. Art in all its glory and form is found across the length and breadth of my country. Kalamkari/Qalamkari is one of my favourite kinds of art work found in India. I really like how the intricate work on a simple cotton dupatta can lift the look of the whole attire. I love how my sister paired her mustard kurta with this gorgeous kalamkari dupatta and accessorized the outfit with flat jutti’s and big silver earrings. The whole outfit turned out to be so simple, effortless and lovely.

:Diwali – That time of the year

Hello!

If you are an Indian then you exactly know what I’m talking about. It’s that time of the year again people, when there is a slight nip in the air, the onset of autumn and the festivities are in full swing. For as long as I can remember, Diwali has been my favourite festival out of all the countless festivals Indians celebrate. According to Hindu mythology Diwali is celebrated because lord Rama and his brother lord Laxman along with goddess Sita (Rama’s wife) returned home after a 14 year exile and  after  winning a rather trecherous battle against the most evil demon ‘Raavan’. It is celebrated by lighting candles, diyas and fairy lights. The entire city lights up to celebrate the auspicious day.

For me Diwali time means lots of get togethers, dressing up, eating a gallon of sweets, drinking lots of wine 😉 , a whole lot of laughter and basically just spending time with family and friends and having a gala time.

Here are a few pictures of me all dressed up for a Diwali party;

There’s something about the colour YELLOW

Hello!

According to Wikipedia, yellow is the colour of gold, butter and lemons and it just so happens that I like all these things a whole lot. I associate the colour yellow with happiness, celebration, beginning of spring time, fairy lights and all things lovely and bright. Today, the rain gods decided to bless us with a little respite from the crazy Delhi heat and the bonus point was that it was a Sunday, so we had the liberty to step out and enjoy the blessed day 🙂

Me and my sister decided to go to an open bazaar( Dastkar’s Rajasthani and Gujarati fair at Kisan Haat, near Qutab Minar Metro Station) where one can buy all things rustic, ethnic and quirky. Such as; plants, printed cotton bed sheets, beaded and silver Jewellery, hand woven footwear, ceramic pots etc.

My Sister wore a yellow and white outfit and looked all sunshiny pretty, she paired it with silver-gold jewellery and Kolhapuri chappals.

Colours of Summer

Hello!

I’m a new bee in the blogging sphere and I had been thinking for many days about starting my own blog and what will it be all about. I suddenly realised that the more you think, the more you delay. So I decided that I’m going to blog about all the things I feel passionately about which are fashion, food, family, photography, friends and of course my first love make up.

For my first ever blog entry I decided to catch hold of my forever busy sister as she was all dressed up and ready to leave for work. I decided to quickly shoot some pictures of her. The combination of pink and white screamed summer to me and I love how simple and summary she looked . Not saying this because she is my sister, but I have always admired the ease with which she puts together her outfits.
